If I confined myself to dating what is in walking distance (defined as an hours walk) of my house then I would be limited to other folk's partners (not smart and potentially lethal) or chasing deer and goats. Neither is acceptable, so now and then I visit towns or cities.
Different times in our life we want and need different things. I have lived in places where I did not speak the local language well, now I would love to live in a place where English is the first language, so I can read the signs, watch the local TV or find books and magazines in English. A bigger city or town has book stores, coffee shops and festivals (I miss music and film festivals). A small town village may not have what I crave at this chapter of my life. I guess it is for each of us to know what we really need, and those needs and wants may change, that is what makes it hard to find a match, I guess.
