Ya know what? I am just about ready to march up to Dail Eireann myself. My sister, brother in law and I were planning our rebellion last night over a few beers! I am starting to get really scared about Irelands future. I live my life mostly in the clouds and all this recession, talk of household tax... scuffles in the corridors of Waterford crystal has made me wake up and realize how valuable a vote is and also, the power of the people.
Things are going to get alot worse and I don't see people backing down. Our Government aren't there for us. Guaranteeing billions to banks and they can't help out companies that are a household name.
It'll be a case of desperate times calling for desperate measures.
People don't take kindly to making 2 steps forward, and 10 steps back.
tallaght_guy: yes you saw it in the 80s people so fed up at 1 stage you had goverments last less than 6 months
i agree entirely...but are they bloody relevant anyway? 65% of your cash is not controled by them anyway... and set against the other only change things very little tax wise..imo..
but as regards services thats what any gov. should be judged on?...i.e.. health/roads/welfare/education to name a few... these in my opinion are beyond budget or economic climate measures/cuts...and always should be..there all too vital and need consistent money and improvement regardless of who`s in power!!... i`m waiting(still!) for the political party that adopts socialistic beliefs towards these as in cuba(best health(free) care in the world)... and a more democratic/capitalist approach towards tax/jobs/research & development/connectivity and world-stage placement(economy wise)... frech model!(not perfect!) but a happier nation, better standard of living and an equality 2nd to none......jmo tho!!!
HungryTiger: With economic downturn, job losses, and the whole country going down the tube
The Irish people have'nt the balls to start a rebellion against the Goverment.. they just lie down and take it.. God help our future. I am really surprised with the young people in our country.... all talk an no action..
LOL its the fact that I'm a woman... we are always looking for something... right now I'm looking at what could be the most perfect pair of boots... but I have been let down before....
These are real boots and by no means do I mean anyone on this site
