The only person you can depend on in life is yourself. Family can be supportive but ultimately decisions in life should be yours alone.That way you cannot blame anyone else if things go wrong.Nothing worse than families at war.

My mum walked out when we were kids then my dad ran off for some tart and left us then my sister stole off me then 1 bro turned to heroin then my other bro is so lost that I try to help him

Yes that's a typical family story in the states as well.
And it's getting that way here in France too.
In western society, there are so many forces pulling people in different directions, and the traditional "glue" that used to hold families together, (faith, love, common interest, etc) just isn't there anymore.
The end result is that the family no longer functions and every individual finds himself facing the world more or less alone.

I could of ended up as my siblings but it must of been so hard for them when she 1st walked out cause I was 13 my sis was 8 and my bros were 1 nad 2 and they were in nappies and I guess what saved me from going astray was I had to grow up really quickly the day she walked out..
My dad I spose was in soo much grief when she walked out that he ended up putting a tart before us kids..

same with me. i know better than to take the advice of some of my family members especially in areas they should not be giving advice about to begin with.
