JSuburbia: Only three things I ask for out of a relationship... Communication, honesty & respect...I could honestly care less (and I know everyone says it, but few mean it)about looks, income....Without the three, the rest is inconsequential.
Don't get me wrong she was absolutely attractive, and I honestly don't see how I was even in a relationship with someone like that, but it was all worthless without her being able to talk to me and communicate what was going on with her, being honest about how she was feeling & giving simple respect (which in a sense ties in with the other two).
Too true on the three. Without them, a relationship will go nowhere. It takes 100% of both people to make it work.

A new study of online dating site members has found that when couples who had built up a significant relationship by e-mailing or chatting online met for the first time, 94 per cent went on to see each other again.
Perhaps surprisingly, the study, by Dr Jeff Gavin, of the University of Bath, also found that men were more emotionally dependent on their 'e-partners' than women, and more committed to the relationship.
Old-fashioned romance isn't dead, however: among the survey's findings were that exchanging gifts was the best way to ensure commitment in the relationship.

Doesn't really surprise me really that men are more emotionally dependant because I dunno, in today's age, we seem to have a more independant woman that is more confident about herself than in the past. In the past, men in general always had the confidence because society held them up as being superior. Times are changing however, and we live in a more equal world, and I think that status change has given women more confidence in that they don't have to rely on a man anymore.
That being said, I also believe it has to do with the fact that there always has been an emotional dependancy of sorts for men, it's just that men in the past, never really discussed or expressed their feelings as much as they do now.
