The History of Olympic Games has had a similar experience before: 1972, 76, of course Moscow 1980, 84 and it happens yet again, now Beijing is a next casualty of stupidity of politicians.

What’s wrong with politicians of our World? Do they have a right to tell a sportsmen and sportswomen not to go to Olympics? Do they have to bury their dreams and 4 years of a hard work of training … just because of any political issues?

What sport has to do with politics? confused

If I remember correctly, in the past it has been more of a safety issue. I haven't been paying attention to what is going on currentely but it really seems unfair to the athletes that worked so hard and competed their hearts out to get there...JMO

Safety is part of Politics ... How Politicians know when it is safe and when it is not?

You are right Sport is Sport!!! and its not fair to the poor sportsmen and women who hopes to fulfil their dreams in winning a medal at the Olympics....While they are up 3 or 4 am training for their dream ....most of us are in our beds dreaming....That includes the politicians too.....thumbs down

I think the solution to this crap is to let the Greek's host the olympics, after all they started it.

The 2010 winter olympics games in Canada have cost the tax payers of this country about 1.5 Billion so far and it's still two years away. This is a horrible deal for the hosr country.

Tickets to the opening ceremony for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games will cost $175 to $1,100 when they go on sale a year from Thursday, the Vancouver Organizing Committee announced.

Closing ceremony ticket prices will range from $175 to $775.

Tickets for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver will go on sale in October 2008, organizers announced Thursday.
The committee said approximately 1.6 million tickets for the ceremonies and the various competitions will become available on Oct. 11, 2008.

In the sports events, the men's ice hockey final will be the most expensive at $775 for the best seats, and $450 and $350 for cheaper seats. Second-most expensive will be tickets to the figure skating Gala Exhibition, ranging from $175 to $525.

Half of all tickets will be priced at $100 or less, and 100,000 of them will cost $25, a VANOC news release said on Thursday.

This is what politics has to do with sports.......
