I suppose The idea of the Vatican withdrawing its legal defence, will now be scrutinised by the world. Is it for the good of the of their congregation or the establishment, Perhaps both.
John, Yes all good people who do good things are worth their weight in gold. But when it comes to them being part of a corrupt establishment they should not expect sympathy if it goes bad for them.
Biff, Like I said I never told my kids or anybody else to abstain from the study of religious matters. Merely to avoid institutions and seek arguments on both sides of the fence.
Quite honestly I think its sound advice. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely, in any establishment be it political financial or spiritual.
Red, From what I see The charges were placed upon him through his legal representatives, ie the papal law firm. And like Zman said earlier we will have to see if he is fit to travel to Australia to face them in July 18th. He is still in Rome as far as I can see.
