RE: Socialism and healthcare!!!

Ireland 'inherited' it's Public Health system from the English, and then modernised it. It has always served the people well, even to those who have 'private health insurance'. If a public health system is soooo intinisically 'evil' to slef-serving and self-centered capitalists, then it's interesting to note that in the current economic climate, the proponents and supporters of exclusive 'private health care' can no longer afford the premiums and are now totally dependant on the Public Healthcare system. ......... so much for capitalism and private healthcare. Maybe this recession is the best thing to hit American capitalists.

RE: WTF is wrong with the church?

The problem with the 'Church', is that it is made up of humans, and very weak humans too. To be fully human, is to be fully perfect. It is the evil of sin, which distorts humanity, and since we are born with original sin, we have inherited from humanity precisely what it is.

The fact, that we are 'taught' about 'guilt' (from the pulipt) does not make the Church responsible or guilty for our sins - each of us responsible for them. The misconception about the Church is that people tend to 'think' that the the Church has its own 'own teachings'. Yet there is nothing further from the Truth. The teachings which the Church imparts, (and often poorly) are the Teachings of Christ - the 'Church' is nothing more than the Messenger.

Christ never said that we can't judge one another, quite the opposite infact. What He did say was not to CONDEMN the persons Soul - BIG difference. What Christ did say is "Love one another, as I Love you". Now, achieving that, is what makes life so difficult - but it is a personal responsibility, and NOT the responsibility of His 'messenger' Church.

RE: Proper English

pyepye56 You're quite correct in what you say, however, you don't seem to allow for the differences in educational standards.

I do remember when I was in my late teens, watching a Rugby match on TV with my father. We were both engrossed in the match to the extent that for the most part we ignored each others comments on the Referee. I resented a decision he made so much so that I inadvertenly let fly with the 'F' word. At the half time, as my father went to the kitchen he handed me a Thesarus and simply said "Read that, you'll find a whole lot of new words in there to replace the one you just used!!" He was right, though I think he may have regretted it.rolling on the floor laughing

Perhaps part of the problem with the English language today is that people don't have the time to read, and therefore their language and spelling skills become weaker. Newspapers are not on my list of recommended reading, as it appears that to be a Journalist, it seems that one must not be able to spell.
