i have often wondered about this when i see the power games played in the workplace and how cruel people can be i have wondered if they are like that in their personal lives either way they are very cruel
I agree with you mimi even though i am a male i have decided that it is better to be alone than get involved with the wrong person again. However yes it is lonely at times and there are things and places that are awkward going to on your own and yes it is better when there is two. But it is not worth the emotional pain when it all goes wrong. Knowing yourself and understanding why we think and act like we do can be very liberating many people i know both male and female feel that they need to be with someone and their lives are no happier than mine. You can be in a relationship and still be lonely.
The buzzword these days is family/life balance. However if someone doesn't have a family or a strong social network outside of their work environment then work can easily become the main focus in their life. There is nothing wrong with this. The only time it becomes a problem is when the work focus comes before everything else. I have seen people put work before their families and even themselves.Quite often these are the most stressed workers among the staff. Many of them have 2 or 3 years of annual leave that they haven't taken. It is always important to have some time for yourself.
Personal health and well being of workers should be a concern for a diligent manager, this includes fatigue management and stress. A good manager will understand the psycho-social risk factors that are involved in today's busy workplaces and would provide support in their staff meeting deadlines. Unfortunately this is not always the case. Many people today work unpaid time that impacts on their private/personal/family time just to meet unrealistic deadlines.Having a task list with things prioritized in order of importance is a start but there is still the same amount of time in the day.We should be working to live not living to work.
Unfortunately this is so true. But honesty should always rise above dishonesty. It is better to say how things really are and remove the dishonest people from your life and avoid a lifetime of misery. The truth is always the truth.
