Nam, it would be hard to imagine after 13 years that the cat would voluntarily go to another house but as you say, if they were locked in, it would be different who knows!

Thanks Sands, I think you have got to let them out to explore etc if they so wish...you cant wrap them in cotton wool....its their nature!

I lost my cat of 13 years when he just went out one day and never returned.I searched around the area and the roads but there was no sign of her.I have heard since, that cats are inclined to do this when nearing the end of their life they go away somewhere to die, have you ever heard this!
