so we all get them, wow. Maybe it is just the thick ones under 40 who come onto dating sites and there are lots out there who can express themselves really well. Anyway now that I set my filters to the ages I am interested in, maybe I will get interesting mail.
Still waiting, mind. Just off to dust my mailbox again
Ken makes a good point - some western women are putting career first and not even thinking about children until they are well established, which is usually when they are in their 40s. You have years yet.
I believe 100% in marriage. To me the stages of any relationship are either
nice = wouldn't marry = flirt / progress / end / part
or
nice = would marry = build with care.
99 / 100 relationships would fall into the first category. You can think you met a marry and be wrong, of course, and those are the ones that hurt, where what you build has to be demolished. I met one man I wanted to marry, and I married him, and it was good. I may never meet another, but if I did, I still wouldn't marry immediately. This is for life, or the very least a chunk of your life, and statistically rushing it is scary.
Hi Pretty (nice name!) I agree waiting and wondering whether its right and then oh what the hey we might as well is not the best start for a marriage. One of the best marriages I know, he always said he knew from the first day (office romance). It took him a year to talk her round to taking him seriously and they've been married over 30 years and are inseparable. Had to overcome a huge amount of family prejudice because they were from staunchly religious families but unfortunately different religions!
Z, good point, gather ye rosebuds while ye may. Ask not for whom the bell tolls. Who knew, I listened in school after all. But when the car or house turns out to be a lemon you can sell it on, or hope it will burn so you can claim the insurance, or spend way more than your original budget to get it right. The car isn't trashing you to your friends, the house isn't sleeping with other houses behind your back and you arent racked with guilt for making a mistake and wondering how to get out without hurting them because they dont have feelings.
Mind you, not sure some celebrities who leap into marriage for fun have deep feelings either!
Twazzle, my friend in Yorkshire has been walking out with his lass for 6 years. He's seriously considering popping the question. His family worry that he is rushing things.
Interesting comments! And Cat, so true. Taken me so long to get back on line I wont answer everyone because you probably stopped reading anyway but its true the blogs are the most interesting part. Makes CS the best website I have seen.
Ha, Cat, I also do the famous English standby. Speak louder and slower until they stop pretending they don't speak God's own language. Our refusal to learn languages has made English the first or second language of the western world.
Molly, yes, you are quite right. Although the flood of Spaniards rushing to holiday in England is, well, more of a trickle. I admire the Spanish very much but they don't really care that their tourists are mainly English, French and German. Compare that to the Netherlands, where even the children seem to speak 4 languages from birth!
Castle walls, check. We don't really want to venture out. Too many snakes in the grass. So yup, hunting for spiders in the blogs is how I spend my Friday night. Its a lifestyle choice.
James, friend of mine just back from the Canaries and really enjoyed herself. Have you been? She did say property in the area she stayed (I think in Las Americas, if that is a place) was very expensive.
Rain, useful stuff. Main concern is that if I do have to return to the UK in a hurry, (older relatives here) I dont give myself too far to go. I have to be within an hour of a good airport I think
RE: happy birthday to me
