wave hi Lookin, enjoy your holidays mate

RE: Is euthanasia an ethical act.???

some believe in the main we are the creator of our tomorrows, the path to what can be called liberation. t is a path of learning directed towards ceasing the causes for our sufferings, e.g. having ceased all the causes one goes beyond taking rebirth breaking the cycle of suffering we are all at this time stuck with.

The path is benefiting others...

So I'll try, is someone decides to jump that's there right.
While I'd like to say law of cause in effect is certain, once karma has been created its bound up in time, whatever the karma when right circumstances arise the karma will ripen.
These karmas (karma is english word for deep profound subject matter explained by qualified person explaining Lam Rim)

Good, Bad or Indifferent the karma resides in what's referred to as merit field.
All sentient being's eventually get's to enjoy ripening of the seeds sown, and interfering in that process is silly, because until all the (say) negative seeds have ripened, the being will continue to suffer from them. Whether this life or next doesn't matter, once sown they are certain and until the merit field has been used up, being's will continue to enjoy that suffering.
Normal dying process, it can take up to 27 days for the absorptions to complete (subtle levels of our consciousness) and a dying person should throughout that process not be disturbed.
I understand that goes way over the top of mainstream understanding but none the less that's the sought of issues clowns from end to the golb to other are fooling around with.
Applies to Human and Animal alike, all being that have mind and fear death...

RE: who would you say was the greatest teacher that ever excisted?

Not quite sure quite what the two Tibetans Sherab Gyaltsen and Tashi Dhondup are trying to express.
Neither appear qualified to teach as best as I could tell.

Then there is the Shugden Buddhists protesting a view to.

HHDL has spoken in regard to Shugden Buddhists in stating the view is not Mahayana.
There is no conflict between HHDL and Kagyu, Karmapa Lama will be standing in for Dalai Lama when HH departs.

I'm certain there is no conflict between Karmapa and Dalai Lama, the 17th Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje linage predates Dalai Lama but that is not in any way an issue.

Qualified teacher is important and is why students requested and HHDL approved umbrella organisation like FPMT e.g.

Amitabha Buddhist Centre in Singapore since 1989 is a FPMT centre

What Sherab Gyaltsen and Tashi Dhondup are on about is a nonsense, one should qualify teacher and Mahayana so to speak, goes to the final umpire remains HHDL.

RE: who would you say was the greatest teacher that ever excisted?

Yes I have read a lot about Atisha, I have studied his teachings for many years sat before Geshe Ngawang Dhargyey among others to. As centre director of Gyalwa Ensapa (named after third Panchen Lama) in NSW, I hosted a visit by Alex Berzin.

However more recently online i came across the KARMA KAGYU LINEAGE OF TIBETAN BUDDHISM, that's pretty interesting to read through...

RE: who would you say was the greatest teacher that ever excisted?

emmm some say Buddha Shakyamuni was the fourth Buddha to appear
Buddha is a word in the very old Nepalese and Indian languages Pali and Sanskrit which means "Enlightened one". The word "Buddha" often means the historical Buddha named Buddha Shakyamuni (Siddhartha Gautama),
but "Buddha" does not mean just one man who lived at a certain time. It is used for a type of person, the equivalent of a prophet, and Buddhists believe there have been many - that there were Buddhas a very long time ago and there will be for a long time in the future.

Maitreya Buddha

After a great many ages the life expectancy of humans will grow enormously and then slowly decrease again until the human lifespan is about a hundred years. According to the prophesies of all the Buddhas and his own promise, this will be the time when Maitreya Buddha will appear in this world as a universal teacher.

A species of large solitary parasitic wasp sometimes known as a flower wasp.
The female ranges up to 25 mm (1 inch) in length, is wingless and ground-dwelling, and exclusively hunts mole crickets
The cricket is paralysed with venom injected by the female's stinger and an egg is laid upon it so the wasp larva has a ready supply of food. The male is smaller, approximately 15 mm (0.5 inches), and has wings. Adults feed on nectar, and pollinate various native Australian flowers.

The sting can cause a severe burning sensation and swelling in humans; in rare cases, it can cause a life-threatening reaction (such as anaphylaxis).

RE: New member wants advice

I think the point I am trying to make is, you asked the question and expressed a sort of dislike for every warning given back to you by the good fair minded members who have offered a response to your inquiry.

Nobody is trying to bully you, however you can expect long term members of these forum to express there opinions whether you agree or not doesn't matter, as everyone has equal right to there views on here and that's how it should be I think
welcome to the forums

RE: New member wants advice

You might also give thought to this scenario

The Australians, aged between 49 and 79, are among nine Westerners whose cases were uncovered by the ABC's 7.30 program earlier this year and who have been locked up in Hong Kong for as long as 15 months on drug smuggling charges that could see them imprisoned for the rest of their lives.

All nine alleged drug smugglers claim to have been lured by a West African crime syndicate which grooms vulnerable people online into taking an all-expenses-paid trip to Hong Kong on the lure of a financial deal, a romance, an inheritance or a humanitarian project.

Top law enforcement officials have told 7.30 drug syndicates have scammed or coerced scores of the elderly, frail, brain damaged, mentally ill and juveniles from here and abroad into smuggling drugs to be sold on the lucrative Australian black market.
