All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Paul emphasizes the preeminece of all Scripture. Given by inspiration is literally "God - breathed". In this verse, Paul teaches that God was actively involved in the revelation of His truth to the apostles and prophets, who wrote it down. The Author of the Bible is God Himself. Thus Scripture is true in all that it affirms and is completely authoritative (see 1 Pet. 1:20 - 21). The study of the Bible is profitable in at least four different ways. Doctrine is teaching. Paul highlights correct teaching first; Luke also emphasizes the Jerusalem church's commitment to doctrine first (see Acts 2:42). Reproof is conviction. This is not simply a rebuke; it is demonstrating some truth beyond dispute. Correction refers to setting something straight (2:15). Instruction refers to the process of training a child. In this list, only one these terms is oriented to knowledge and information - that is doctrine (see 1 Peter 2:2). The other three in the list involve a change of life. Knowledge that does not changhe one's life is useless. On the other hand, living without any understanding of who God is and whqat He expects of us is dangerous. The study of Scripture will made a believer complete, meaning "capable" or "proficient". Thoroughly equipped means "full prepared". The person who masters the Word of God will never lose his or her way. Every good work: Paul emphasizes the essential link between knowing God's Word and applying it to one's daily life. Right doctrine should produce right practice. (NKJV)
The command to love was new because Jesus gave it a new standard. Moses said, "Love your neighbor as yourself". Jesus said the new standad was as I have loved you. Jesus gave His disciples the example of love that they were to follow. (John 13:1- 13)
But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of Life.
Never again can the devil, the one behind every abomination and lie emerge to instigate sin (See Genesis 3). Hie sternal destiny in the lake of fire is certain. Only believers, whose names are wrtitten in the Lamb's Book of Life are allwoed by God to enter the New Jerusalem.
Under Old Testament Law it was a different Story. It was God deciding who lived or died. After all we got the 10 commandments in the book of Exodus. Because of Jesus we are now under New Testament Law. People are given a choice to chose how to live. Based on their desicision, God will deal with people accordingly. If a person choses to be gay that is between that person and God. Ulitmately if the person who is gay doesn't repent and accept Jesus and personal Lord and Savior this person will punished according to how God sees fit. So ultimately.. again it is God who decides who shall live and who shall die.
Am not picking and choosing. I have a KJV Bible. It contains both Old Testament and New Testament. Old Testament prior to Jesus Christ. New Testament after Jesus Christ.
Would appreciate if you are going to give Scripture out that you give from both Old and New Testaments.
I am one that believes the Bible to be the inspired Word of God. The Bible clearly states how one should live. Surely you have heard of The 10 Commandments. This is a very good proof of me hearing from God on how to live... through His Commandments, through His Living Word, the Bible.
Oldie but a goodie....Little Old Lady from Pasadena. Another good car song called "Rusty Chevrolet" by DaYoopers. (A group from the UP here in Wisconsin/Michigan area)
