GoodHeartforYou: Independence from Great Britain???? YET we lease BP our oceans and they are allowed to muck them up - jokes on who?
You might want to check who are holders of BP shares.
"BP is so big, and its stock is so widely held, that its troubles are being felt throughout the investment world. Large insurance companies in Britain, big money management companies in the United States, government-controlled investment funds in Norway, Kuwait, China and Singapore rank among the company’s largest stockholders. BP may be British, but Americans own half its stock."

I do not mind your keeping the "Gulf of Mexico" for some time, we could even change its name to "Gulf of USico" or something like that any way we have not the means to drill in its deep water.
"Mexico is among the three leading foreign suppliers of oil to the United States, along with Canada and Saudi Arabia. Mexican barrels can be replaced, but at a cost. It means greater American dependence on unfriendly countries like Venezuela, unstable countries like Nigeria and Iraq, and on the oil sands of Canada, an environmentally destructive form of oil production."

I do believe, the way things are looking, we might soon name it the Obama Calderon, just waiting for someone to light a match. I expected "the one" Obama to be there with his staff, parting the gulf, walking in, and corking it shut.

I'm still finding this whole thing, the accident, a bit difficult to believe. I'm surprised the American public still lets him sit in the Whitehouse. They already will be presenting him with a letter asking for his resignation. In the November, after elections, the majority will be asking congress to impeach him, if we make it that far.
