They did not have pizza when I was there. I did have kjøttkaker once at the only restaurant which is like little salisbury steaks but no mushrooms. Lots of round slices of bread with jarlsberg or the brown gjetost (goats cheese) and it's version in butter and scrambled eggs on the bread for breakfast. All slices of bread was buttered first. Only one channel on the television which only aired a few hours on weeknights and longer on weekends. Most of the shows were from England and Amerca with Norsk teletype underneath. They had some cute cartoons from Eastern Europe with just music no talking. The best thing I saw on television back then was the European Song Contest and Norway won that year for La Det Swinge by the Bobbysocks.
I lived in Lillesand with my mother's step Aunt Gudrun. It was a small town. Someone asked me what Church I went to in America and I said Methodist and somehow everybody in town thought I was a Mormon missionary because Aunt Gudrun always wanted me to dress in my only suit which was dark blue and was bought at Sears. She was Baptist. Takk Helig Jesus!!
When I lived in Norway for about 5 months in 1985, the people under 50 didn't like me and the people over 50 loved me. Ate a lot of open faced sandwiches for just about every meal and in the winter, the sea was frozen solid!
The first meal I ever made was Chili Con Carne for a Church Pot Luck in NYS. Because they were on sale for a low price I bought a bunch of leeks and put them in the chili I made for another Church supper in Denver. They loved it.
I had muscle cramps in my legs and feet due to Tardives Diskenisia while sleeping at night but it was not every day and happened more when it was cold. A friend from Church and a friend on here told me to take magnesium for it. Unfortunately the magnesium caused me great pains in my gut and I had to stop taking it and the pains in my gut went away.
I take 1000 mg of vitamin C a day. Have not caught anything in about 3 or 4 years now. I also take a calcium supplement that includes vitamin D and a multi vitamin designed for people over 50.
Somebody had a crush on Brooke Sheilds when he was younger... There was this show about looking up your family tree and Brooke Sheilds was on it and thought she was Italian but actually was of French Royalty. Her relatives during the French Revolution escaped to Italy with their money and started a bank there.
