It is wrong to drink alcohol in some religion, drinking alcohol in some religion is their culture, in some religion alcohol is allowed as a medicine in critical-diseases.

Why do different religions have different ideologies for the same thing?

What would be its logical explanation on the basis of science which is acceptable to all?

If an institution says people must, or can't do something, it's about power and control regardless of the rationale.

jac_the_gripper: The situations are different: either you have your family around you, or if your family work distant overseas, it's up to them whether they negotiate a particular holiday contract to visit you.

You also said that you could apply for special permisson for a longer block of holiday. I imagine that would have to be open to long-distance family visits, but not necessarily open to longer recreational-only vacation.

The NHS relies on overseas workers because of the relative crap pay and conditions. Longer holidays will be a way of attracting those workers, or possibly might have some kind of impact upon work visas. Y'know, like you can't live in a holiday caravan all year round without incurring council tax liability.

If I make a size 12 dress for everyone, I'm treating everyone the same. Not everyone will have a usable item of clothng, so I'm not treating everyone equally.

I think we should stop this now. It's hogging, off-topic and rude.
I agree to disagree handshake

What is the logical explanation for believing in something that doesn't exist?

Let's face it zillions of people praying for the crisis overseas

Kids getting blasted to death in the USA

If by chance he did exist he isn't a nice person allowing such atrocities to continue

Religion is a scam

ChesneyChrist: True but it doesn't need to be this way and is unable to continue either way. What would be wrong with driving pet grooming entrepreneurs out of business so they have to do something worthwhile? Elon Musk is right when he says we need a recession because the global economy showers money on idiots in the west. Useless decadent industries that need crushing so that posterity is not lost to perming a dog.
Yeah, you're right.

Poodle-permers should be forced to drop a pay scale and become NHS neuro-surgeons. thumbs up

Just re-posting the op in case any of us manages to make a relevant contribution.

I'm afraid I'm stumped with the 'acceptable to all' bit gven I doubt any organised religion would accept my hypothesis that the common theme is power and control.

Mass immigration will one day be seen in the same light as lockdown. Something that felt easy at the time but salts the earth for posterity. The last 30/40 years in the west imply a question that is becoming more pertinent everyday; how long can any people last through status and loans? In the west we are living through an era of widespread but declining aristocracy.
