I'm not religious either and like you had a quick look through the bible a few times with no particular interest.I'm just curious at this stage too many weird things are happening all together (dead birds,fish,floods,riots, world wide crisis,defaults etc etc )and it looks pretty scary even without prophesies...
I mean leaving aside religions and beliefs and trying to view the matter from plain historic viewpoint as much objectively as we can, are not there a few too many coincidences happening lately ?

“I will stir up Egyptian against Egyptian— brother will fight against brother, neighbor against neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kingdom. The Egyptians will lose heart, and I will bring their plans to nothing; they will consult the idols and the spirits of the dead, the mediums and the spiritists. I will hand the Egyptians over to the power of a cruel master, and a fierce king will rule over them,” declares the Lord, the LORD Almighty.” - Isaiah 19:2-4
Some of that sounds eerily close to today's headlines doesn't it? At least the part about neighbor fighting against neighbor does. Will the popular uprising's plans be brought to nothing? Will a worse and more cruel 'king' than Hosni be brought to rule over Egypt? The developing story seems to be long from over. If one reads further into Isaiah 19, and if this is in fact a future prophecy laid out in advance, the immediate outlook is grim indeed for this ancient nation. To be fair, chapter 19 does ultimately end with a redemptive healing in store for the Egyptians. The whole chapter has to be read together in sequence to fully appreciate the context, and there are some surprisingly vivid details revealed.
Ezekiel 29:15 states of Egypt; "It will be the lowliest of kingdoms and will never again exalt itself above the other nations. I will make it so weak that it will never again rule over the nations."
Yes some men are jerks and some women like them that way cos they can control them easily,exploit them fully and finally ditch them. I guess they just deserve each other
