If you spend your entire life in love with some one that can not love you back, in turn resulting in you living with out ever loving another. Was your life truely complete.
Though I see the logic in what you say. one may also say that the road to your wonderful recovery was in fact attainable though you were not sure of it then. BUT NEVER THE LESS I SEE YOUR POINT.
