You don't need laws for that, it's common sense

I don't know about city pubs, but it would be common practice around here to refuse drink to someone who obviously has had too much.

Not only that, they would be put in a taxi and sent home. Different culture, I know

Oh I know, most barstaff, especially in nite clubs, will serve whatever they are asked for, to whoever wants it.

I'm just not sure if prosecuting these 2 guys will serve any purpose. Should they be sent to jail for being stupid

I've read the first 2 posts a couple of times and am not sure how to reply.

Yes, it is a tragic end to a young life
Are the barmen responsible.....to a point, yes
Should they be charged......not sure
But they definately should not have served him that drink, it's basic bartending: Know when someone has had enough, and stop serving, and NEVER serve "stupid" drinks.
