It seems the reason the courts have interpreted the "wall of separation" was to prevent EXACTLY what your friend wants to do. She can say that we should base it on "Christian" or "Jewish" principles, but, what are those? There, of course, is much disagreement about that because there are many interpretation of what Christianity means. The precedent doesn't just protect atheists from Christians, it protects Christians from themselves. You're right, the Constitution never mentions separation of church and state. Through years of precedents that interpretation of the implicit meaning has been established. The Constituion is a living document, subject to interpretation by the justices. These precedents are what matter.
PS. I'm sure calling it Winter Break really destroys the rights of Christians to practice their religion. Those poor persecuted people. Plus that argument assumes that Atheism is a religion. Since it doesn't have a "canon" one would be hard-pressed to make that argument. If you wanted a good example, you could have at least brought up having Bible study in classrooms...
No. I take that back. I know there was an episode of Batman v. The Green Hornet. They fought. I don't know which episode you're talking about because it was a draw. Kato was actually supposed to lose, but Bruce Lee through a fit and they decided at the last minute to call a draw. Yeah, I'm a nerd.
There is nothing that cures a hangover. The only thing you can do is try to prevent one. Drink a lot of water. Eat before you drink. Take a multi-vitamin before you drink because alcohol causes your body to rid itself of certain vitamins. The Chaser pills that you take before you drink that prevents hangovers is just like taking a pill of carbon--which is also lost when you drink. But merely eating will have the same effect.
I realize that it was a joke by the emoticon rolling around by your post... I was asking how much truth there was to it, but nevermind. I don't really care that much.
Just a random thought..the phrase "Nice guys finish last" implies that there is more than one nice guy. This means that, by definition, at least one of them will not finish last...
Your profile is pretty good. But it could use some sprucing up:
Grammar, grammar, grammar. I'm going to sound like an English teacher but you need to make sure that you use at least decent grammar and make sure all the words you use are spelled correctly. Everyone makes typos, but they should be minimized (you really cannot afford to misspell words like reading or Hawaii). For example, you need to put a space after all periods and commas. "A lot" is two words. If you spend time on the small things like grammar and such it shows you are thoughtful and pay close attention to detail (pretty attractive qualities, I think).
There is no need to mention negative qualities like being thick-headed (especially in the second sentence). There is also no need to mention things you do not like (i.e. rap). Focus on the positive.
There is another forum thread that gives 10 aspects of a good profile. I'd look there next.
RE: If you won 500,000 and was single, would you be on this site now?
No way. I'd be on sugardaddy dot com. Woot.
