YES!!! Layaway is so great! and if it isn't available, I do my own layaway
I save!
If I save up for what I want to buy -it seems about half the time when I get that money all in a pile I decide I am 'over' that thing and just use the money for something else or just roll it over into another savings goal
I bought a digital converter box for 30 dollars- have always gotten from 34-60 some channels- depending where I am living.
Never use a landline- not for years now so the whole bundling thing is lost on me-
When they come to the door and try to sell me the tv service and tempt me with the bundling I just laugh.
I have become teflon to it
I don't need commercial TV period-
oh but I do have a Wii and netflix- the Wii was a gift and netflix is 10 dollars a month and all the TV series and movies I could ever watch in a lifetime
I don't know- it's like something broke- a hypnotic hold - I refuse to pay for TV ever again. It's wrong!!
In my opinion that is the biggest trap and i know so many people that complain about it but keep it.
I hear all my friends and family complain about their 130, 40, 50, 60 dollar tv bills, it's insanity in my opinion
Why would i spend THOUSANDS of dollars every year on television?
I watch Dexter and Entourage and anything I want online and I watch the 61 channels I get with my digital converter box- and that is enough
I get my news online-
Seriously - I just started choosing one item and then another and another as I needed to trim the fat and afterwhile- I would never dream of restarting those charges- for what?? I'm over it!! LOL
I have a no contract phone- the latest type- android-bought for 150 new and I pay appx 44 a month- period- unlimited everything- meanwhile the cheapest contract phone is appx 80 a month for unlimited everything which isn't really unlimited and you are forced to stay with that company- SCREW that!!
Meanwhile I do put that money/what I would be paying from these and a few other 'necessities' that I don't have anymore, in a jar and I take trips- buy things for my kids and go to alot of Broadway shows
Hey- I shifted my priorities and I even have a decent life insurance policy now- which I used to think I couldn't afford- so I was giving my family 'stuff' and things but if I died they would be in debt just to bury me- that's ridiculous
The problem is the honed ability to practice denial about what is important and that we must choose- we cannot and are not entitled to have everything we want.
I think it's difficult for me because I was a super nerd- and never got into trouble. Later of course I had some problems but that was in my mid twenties for a few years - so, yes, destructive, but not direct rebellion or effect on anyone like parents...
