See what I mean, I knew someone would come along and refute what I wrote, but the ideals I wrote are what we have based the tradition of Thanksgiving on here in America for all these years.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong or off a bit, but from what I remember about the history of Thanksgiving, is that the Pilgrims had a hard time adjusting to the new country. But in the fall with the help of Native American Indians, they had a bountiful harvest and they were so thankful that they had a huge celebration of food and family gathering together to thank God for all the blessing He gave them while in the new land.
Here in America, Thanksgiving is a holiday where family and friends get together and celebrate. It's origins are from the days when the Pilgrims settled in the New Land. Generally there is a huge meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, cranberry sauce, sweet potato pie, stuffing, rolls, pumpkin and apple pies and much, much more. It's a huge feast and generally lots of fun.
Try and think about it this way. If you tell a guy your a single mum, and he runs, that just tells you he wouldn't be good for you or your child/ren. It just helps weed out the guys who aren't worthy to be in your life.
I can only speak for myself why I choose divorce. As they say hindsight is 20/20. I really didn't KNOW my husband. We dated for less than a year. It wasn't until we were married and living together that I came to KNOW him.
