First date - something relaxed and casual theres too much pressure on a first date to go out for dinner. Maybe meet up late afternoon somewhere for a coffee and a bun and if you're getting along well head on somewhere for a few drinks. Flowers on the first date may or maynot be a no no, it really depends on the lady, maybe a single rose to start with. In the early stages yes make the effort but you dont want to be showing your full hand too early. Keep something back for later on down the line when its least expected. Its not all about the expensive grand gestures its the little things that show you have been listening that get ya the brownie points.
