James_Pond: well are you a country or city boy/girl at heart?
I love the country or small towns but at the same time, I'd miss having certain amenities close by like shopping centres, cinemas etc. The country is nice and quiet but not enough to do there sometimes in my opinion.

i agree but having a city relatively close by can make for a nice day out, think you can enjoy things more cinema shopping centres theatre etc when you're not surrounded by them

Country all the way .... by choice, can always drive to city for stuff and stuff but nothing better than the peace and quiet and small numbers of people, big cities scare the bejasus out of me ... the anonymity and apparent lack of community .... just my perception but give me country any time .... country girl at heart .... and have the steel toe capped wellies to prove it

Yep, visiting the city when you want to, or need something is the best way for me. I was born, and lived in large cities most of my life, and have been escaping them since I was 17.
Stuck in one right now, after 6 years in a small town, and really can't stand it. Lived in other small towns, a few acerages, and a farm before, and moving to another small town in the mountains next.
In england, a city dweller...rows and rows of semi's, had to drive miles to get away from it all...Over here, country, wouldn't swap it for Bill Cullens fortune...5 mins from the village, 20 mins from town, 40 mins from airport, 1 hour from Limerick...( can ya guess where i am?)...whats not to like... ..LZ...
areyoureadytogo: haha maybe their nosey in cork but were not up here in tipp!!
There are two Tipp sisters married to two farmers beside me and they would go where only an endoscopologist would go to look for news. But I'm sure the rest of yiz are fine!

You'd have those close by in small towns too. To a lesser scale maybe, but they are there.
