Follow the progress of the Irish swimmers live on RTÉ Radio's Saturday Sport

Barry Murphy failed to progress in the 50 Metre Freestyle event at the European Swimming Championships in Budapest after placing 29th in Saturday morning's heats with a swim of 23.06 seconds, writes RTÉ Sport's John Kenny.

The 22-year-old Dubliner is back in the pool at 5.30pm (Irish time) for the final of the 50 metres Breaststroke where he is ranked at number 6 of the eight finalists.

was just wondering whether anyone has a story or incident they'd like to share in the hope of catharsis perhaps...

heres mine anyhow....

maybe a month ago i was returning home after an evening walk with my dog, and i saw a man walking unsteadily toward me. He was maybe two hundred yards away when i recognised who it was.

It was an ex school teacher from the next village who had taken to drink many years ago and would approach people in the hope of being given a euro or two...

Anyhow, i crossed to the other side of the street and continued on my way not before i noticed that he took off his cap and turned into the church for evening service...

i know this may seem a trivial incident but it resonated with me (and still does to some degree)....
