That sounds like someone who posted a fake profile and backed out when you called their bluff by suggested an actual meeting. You were right to ask to meet for coffee first. It's good to just get a face to face without an obligation to spend a long time with somebody where they might even have difficulty with boundaries.
My feeling is you had your expectations raised and time wasted by a fake. But by the looks of you and your profile you should have no proble on this site or in the real world.

All first dates I had on here were meeting for a coffee because if you dont find the person attractive and there is no chemistry on first meeting you can bid farewell after an hour and it saves spending a long evening with someone you dont see as potential dating material. Can't understand why he has a problem with that.
