My mom took some chili & cornbread over to Clara & her family Saturday night & she's doing worse. She's not able to get out of the hospital bed & she can barely open her eyes! Thanks again for your prayers!
They said "you'll never make it", And they thought that they were right, But I kept on plodding onward, Because I hoped I might. And they shook their heads in wonder, That I lacked the sense to quit, But I held my chin up higher, And I didn't mind a bit.
They said, "you'll never make it", As the problems multiplied, But I had to make an effort, And to know at least I tried. So I dug my heels in deeper, Though sometimes my spirits lagged, And I shouldered what was lightest, And the rest I sort of dragged.
And I found to my amazement, At the ending of the day, That what they said I couldn't, I had managed anyway. It only took three little words, "Lord help me", and I rid Myself of doubt, and all they said I'd never do...I did.
A pat, a hug, sincere and true Can help a friend who's sad and blue, And the moments that are spent Together, be a compliment. One may never know how much A handclasp or a friendly touch Can mean to someone in despair When we show concern and care. Restoring hope when there is none Is half the battle and can be won By a simple act of love Given with God's help above. So reach out while there still is time To change the outlook and the clime, To one of peace and happiness With a bit of cheer and tenderness.
