Kindness is a Christian virtue God has willed to every heart To enhance our life with graces That it nurtures and imparts. For He knows our need for kindness In our journeys through this earth- When we suffer strife or struggle, Human kindness could avert.
It is, also, holy virtue- With a double touch of grace For the giver and receiver To enjoy, and to embrace- For, in giving human kindness, We are serving Heaven's will To be caring, unto Jesus, And the virtues He instills.
O Lord, how happy we could be, If we would put full trust in Thee- If we from foolish fears would rest And be assured that Thou above, In perfect wisdom, grace, and love, Art working for our best.
Lord, make these faithless hearts of ours Good lessons learn from fields and flowers; First, let our worries cease; Then, like the flowers, let us be still And leave all things to Thy good will And so find perfect peace.
Did you ever stop to wonder At the trouble and the strife, That follows at the heels of man, And hides the good in life? Did you ever sit and ponder At the fortunes of the few, And grimly question why a bit Was not reserved for you?
When your back is near to breaking, With the burden that you bear, Did you ever once consider It's the same most everywhere? The dawn of each new day is lost, Beyond the shadowed ridges, When men persist in building walls, Who should be building bridges.
