RE: Syria in ruins

When it comes to Jihad, would you rather bloodshed. I know which one would make me sick.

RE: North Korea??????

We should be careful about what we wish for. Over the history of modern man, many countries have had their shot at the brass ring. I dont think anyone is ready for the change that will come with a shift of world power. Lets just think for a moment what the world would be like with China as the ultimate world leader. After all they are set to be next.

I suppose buying shares in alphabet soup might be a little dis taistful. LOL

RE: if I keep praying will God heal my relationship?

Short story, you wouldn't drive a car while someone else holds the wheel, so drive your own life/car.

RE: science

Thank you, conduit

RE: if I keep praying will God heal my relationship?

Funny in deed.
However, having faith in yourself is going to be more powerful than any other faith.angel devil

RE: if I keep praying will God heal my relationship?

I like your way of thinking. Bloody funny and yet so true.

RE: if I keep praying will God heal my relationship?

Is this thread serious? When the heck does god give a crap how we feel. He is too busy teaching us the lessons of life. Thats if your even believe remotely in a God.

RE: Welcome Stranger Gold Nugget

Gold71, sounds like you are living the life. Good luck yo you. There is a much more in depth story about the welcome stranger nugget. I will try to find it, do a bit of reading and post it on this thread. The kicked while on a wagon track, I think was a story made up by the media of the day. Anyway, I cant be sure until I read up on the topic.
Cheers

RE: science

As soon as i'm finished my survey I'm going home to my own planet. these humans are nuts. LOL

RE: science

Science is a wonderful thing that keeps us asking the question why. The day we stop doing that is the day we stop learning. The reason for the great advances across the globe in the last 100 years is because some people stopped blindly following religion and start asking the question why. The answer was soon clear, why not.
It wasn't that long ago in history that a scientist had to be very careful not to upset the church with his ideas, for fear of his own life.

RE: Welcome Stranger Gold Nugget

It would be nice to get some people together around the Castlemain area in Vic. but that might be a bit of a long shot.

RE: Welcome Stranger Gold Nugget

I totally agree. Wont be long and it will all be closed and the only thing there will be blackberries and rabbits.

RE: Welcome Stranger Gold Nugget

Before any rumors start I would like to say: That is not anyone's ex wife hanging from the back of the truck above. LOL

RE: Welcome Stranger Gold Nugget

robplum,
I wasn't really directing that comment at you as you sound very up to speed. It was more for people following this post. Sorry if I did come across a little strong.

RE: Welcome Stranger Gold Nugget

And don't forget the wildlife you may encounter while prospecting in Australia. Just for laughs. If you thought we had bush pigs in Oz then here is proof below.

RE: Welcome Stranger Gold Nugget

The DPI or department of primary industries has very comprehensive maps for the gold fields in Victoria. The good news is you can overlay crown land maps to see where you can go without having to get permission. A miners right is still required otherwise the gold you find is legally the property of the crown and can be confiscated.

RE: Welcome Stranger Gold Nugget

Strewth I almost forgot why I'm on here.
I would love to find a lady that I get along with so I can get out and share finding gold with someone.
Might be a bit much to ask as I haven't received any friend requests yet.
Like gold they are rare and so is a golden lady.
Ps. this is just a hobby for me. LOL

RE: Welcome Stranger Gold Nugget

Try getting some dirt from an old mullock heap and running it trough your high banker. It might work if you can find the right heap.

RE: Welcome Stranger Gold Nugget

And one more

RE: Welcome Stranger Gold Nugget

Little bits add up real fast. I started by finding little bits with the thought in mind to go on a holiday with the winnings. After the first year it was looking like a cheep local motel might be the holiday, but a few more years of finding and a world trip is more on the agenda. As I said it does add up. Keep going.
PS. If I knew how too I would put up the odd pic on here.

RE: Welcome Stranger Gold Nugget

Hmmm I never get sick of those type of Photos. Nice haul, very nice.

RE: is there EVER a good enough reason for a man to hit a women????

I wonder what germane Greer would say about this? After all she started the woman's equal rights movement.

RE: North Korea now cited as nuclear threat to U.S.

Why is it that every time a country does something, America seems to think it is all about them. These north Koreans test there missiles by firing them into the see of Japan. To get them to America They have to be fired across Japanese air space. Wouldn't you think the Japanese would have more to be worried about than the Americans? and they should have the ability to shoot these missiles down before the get anywhere near there journey to America.
Just thinking out load but it makes sense to me.

RE: Welcome Stranger Gold Nugget

Being that NZ is still a land mass that is forming it would be easy to imagine that the source of this gold could have easily been depleted or covered completed by volcanic activity or earth movement. Here in Australia, places like Balarat produced gold on the surface for millions of years the volcanic activity covered vast areas of these gold fields. Now days shafts have to be made through the volcanic basalt down to the ancient river beds that once were exposed to the elements of nature. The big picture here I suppose is trying to get our heads around the fact that this whole process from reef to ocean takes millions of years and the dinosaurs would have been walking on the stuff we might find now in an ancient river bed.
Note: next time your up a mountain somewhere and find a water worn round river stone try to imagine that for it to be there means there must have been a river running there at some point in history.

RE: Welcome Stranger Gold Nugget

Whilst this is possible as gold is part of the periodic table that makes up all of the elements that we know of, the proportion of gold to other elements would make it a very rare find in a meteorite in deed. Meteorites on the other hand are also very rare and can be found with a metal detector. People can make a very nice living be prospecting for them. Science is still trying to find evidence of life on other planets by studying meteorites. Find one with that evidence and you will go down in the pages of history for sure.

RE: Welcome Stranger Gold Nugget

Funny and amazing that humans have discovered the Achilles heel of gold in this way and for thousands of years have used it to find gold. The methods of recovering gold have changed very little over the history of time.

RE: Welcome Stranger Gold Nugget

Tarris,
Gold starts it journey is gold bearing rock, as it erodes it is forced to travel down hill toward the lowest point. This starts by traveling down slopes then into gullies these gullies make their way to streams and then to rivers and eventually into the ocean. Finding it while it is still traveling toward the ocean is what prospectors are doing while panning. Erosion tends to break it down to smaller and smaller bits while it travels. The old timers used to pan their way up a creek finding a show of color, when the gold stopped showing in their pans they would back track to the last show and then start looking up the slopes above the water, This is how many gold reefs were found and hence gold mines started.
