I hope that someone wants to answer at least a few of my questions (can be short answers, I just want to understand the system a little bit).
1) Course-system: so you are able to pick courses/subjects right? But how many courses does a student take? In my country you have about 12 different subjects every year.. and they stay almost the same over the years. Every day you have different subjects.
2) Periods/Bell Schedules: From one of the schools i looked up (California) i could get the following informations: School A has 7 periods from 8:10 to 4:10 (different on Wednesdays) and one period called "0/C" from 7:00 - 8:05. What's "0/C" ? School B in California stared with period 1 (8:15-9:05; no "0/c" period) and ended also with period 7 from 2:30-3:20. it was very strange though, On Tuesday and Thursday 1 period lasted 90 minutes instead of 50?
when would after class activities (e.g. Football)/clubs (e.g. Drama) take place? After 7th period?
3) Classes: I read somewhere that a student picked 6 classes. what's he/she gonna do in period 7 then? From what i got, every day is the same (if i look at the bell schedules, it doesn't make any sense though), so if i took Mahts in the winter semester would i have Maths as first period every day, the whole semester long?
What about teachers? Do they see the same students every day at the same time for the whole semester?
4) Different grades (age), same course?: Is it possible for a 9th grader and a 10th grader to be in the same course/class? What about a 9th grader and a 11th grader?
In my country it wouldn't be possible, you only sit in the same room with your "real classmates", meaning people who are exactly your age and your grade and you will be in the same class with them during all four 'high school years', you all have the same subjects. of course there are a few classes in each grade (e.g. you have 4 '9th grade' classes with each 30 students in it).
Hilarious!, they like to make countries poor, yet they complaint when said poors cross the border, if i may say so...: they deserve all those filthy immigrants they are getting!
