Absolutely the same.
I am not a native English speaker and I know I do make mistakes, but I can bring my point across. I don't have a problem with non-native speakers who make spelling mistakes but can put together a sentence, it is just a turn of to receive mail from native speakers with the literacy level of a 5 year old.

English is a second language to me and I can understand and excuse people who live in a country where English is not the main language but it boggles my mind how poor some people living in the 'English' world can spell; not even to mention the improper usage of similar sounding words like 'there' and 'their'.
chris27292729: This is an international side. You can write in other Latin based languages
When the mood strikes me like to write a bit of romantic poetry in French and guilty of singing a little opera in the shower in perfect pitch, but dont like to brag about it.

I am actually in favour of spelling reform. I like George Bernard Shaw's spelling of fish as an example of how ridiculous spelling can be. GHOTI .... GH as in enough, O as in Women and TI as in motion.
... but, having said that, I am still against spelling anarchy.

What is it about spelling anarchy that you're against?
And as I asked earlier, what do you find disturbing about poor literacy skills?

I agree 100% The level of English, even among speakers for whom English is a first language, is so bad that they do not know how to use basic words like "there, their, your, you're, you are" - words that I knew by about 10 years of age.
The local radio station sounds like a bunch of street corner slobs and even company reports and advertising are sloppy and show lack of proof reading.

I am not really disturbed nor am I surprised. I may not always have perfect grammar or spelling, but I try. If I was being tested I may even try a little harder. As for others and their grammar, who knows. Maybe alcohol is a factor.
