I actually met quite few people from the site and they were all even better than what I expected... Not everyone is good in creating the best profile and it can put you on the back of the queue in a dating site...
Googling the image helps a lot... And yes, there are real, honest people here... But people can turn out be something else after you are already convinced... We can't live in fear of being wrong all the time... Time and life waits for no one...
Many are selfish indeed, but many do care too... I like it when people play disgusted when the word money is being mentioned... Wanting nothing much, just everything...yeah... Caring for people should not be questioned and discussed, it should be part of your life and possibly the one most invisible for the others...
