there were 8 mott the hoople albums counting the live album. there are now probably close to a hundred things you can get, i have about 40 in my collection bootleg live stuff. releases by small indipendant record companys 3 disc box set only available in england books, sets of previously unreleast stuff dvds.
not bad for a band that never really got their due.
my last reply is a reference to you having seen them with a different singer the first time. thanks im excited about this reunion, ive been a huge fan since the early 70's
all the young dudes. that was the big hit for mott , in fact if you saw the movie "juno" it was in the soundtrack on the movie. bad companys gutarist was with mott before co foundu\ing bad company. ian hunter was the main songwriter and singer with mott his song cleveland rocks was covered for the drew carry show, and great white had a big hit with another ian hunter song "once bitten twice shy" rem, the clash and any number of bands claim to have been influenced by mott the hoople, ian hunter is still recording to this day his latest album "shrunken heads" is excellent one of the best of his career and thats saying alot. so now no one has a reason to not know and appreciate this great band, seek it out.
the first band to play a week of shows on broadway, the opening band was queen on that tour, queens 1st tour of america, brian may has said the only other band he wanted to be in beside queen would have been mott, checkout ian hunter's web sight, for info on the reunion. i hope they do some shows in this country.
thanks, ya mick was towards the very end with mott, mostly with ian hunters solo career when he left mott, great guitarist with spiders from mars, bowie was a huge mott fan, gave them all the young dudes when they broke up the first time had a big hit with it, if anyone doesnt know them checkout mott the hoople' mott, one of the great albums of the early 70's mick ralphs on guitar, last album with mott before leaving to form bad company.
you may have seen some of the killer blues shows at ricks in east lansing in the 80's just a typical college bar now.the silver dollar is being torn down, remember these places?
yes they are tearing down the plant theyve also torn done two or three others, the kmart boy i had to think about that one i believe its a target now, there is talk of the lansing mall thinking of closing too, unemployment in mich, 11 percent and getting worse, if you want to catch up , jump over to my profile, and we can rap about lansing, no funny bizness i promise, when you have time, im about to crash out myself.
yes velvet underground\lou reed, do yourself a huge favor and checkout the war of words between lou reed and his biggest fan, writer 'lester bangs' these pieces were in creem magazine in the 70's great stuff, also anything lester wrote about "velvets"back then. i am a stooges fan however, and appreciate lous solo stuff more so than the velvets, but to me iggy and the stooges were the godfathers of punh, lou and the velvets godfathers of art rock, what do you think?
hi dru, i put in spinich one year the first time, over did it, and had so much had to experiment with new recipes to use it all, i cant live without my spinich!!
i agree sue, i have a cat who is my best friend, fes seen me through some awful hard times, i wiuld protect him with my life, i know its inevitable what you're going through, and i know how very hard it is, my heart goes out to you.
