You get it wrong. My wording was "took profit", I didn't say thru tax. Definitely, British took profit from HK in a vast no. of ways, but I don't want to go into depth to discuss here.
HK is ruled under the mainland government under a "One country, two systems" principle since 1997. There may be omission and lapses for the central government to tax on HK ppl based on greed, this is really your ungrounded imagination!
HK dollar is linked with US Dollar, this is y HK is in a poor status now. Since US dollar is weak, HK dollar is weak. HK dollar presently to Euro, to Japanese Yen, even to Renminbi is weak and this is a v unfavorable situation when it comes to trade.
Rather ridiculous indeed. Everybody knows how British took profit from HK when HK was still the colonial HK, or y at all British ppl took the trouble managing HK? Do you think just for fun or for the esteem?
If you say PRC is taxing the business in HK, I think it needs to be supported by proof -- at least in HK, it's never unheard of, nor talked about.
HK is not poor indeed, but like China, the wealth concentrates in a few hands - bankers, land owners or real estate developers.
Quoting Trueblue on the first page, sounds Chinese are also regarded with distrust. They expect us to "drop stones" after we complete with our develop. But actually, Chinese, unlike Japanese, are just concerned with living, rather than fighting.
As a matter of fact, HongKongese don't fully comprehend the Chinese government too. There's another world. Our government are separate but interlinked entities.
It's a long article I didn't finish all but true that China faces many many problems for her to take more steps to progress.
There is a huge population with uneven distribution of wealth & geographical resources. There is a long way for education to be extended to all to improve the ppl's quality as a whole.
Yes fondness for gold is a tradition for Chinese and Indians.
But I think for the currency to be free for international exchange, it takes time. There involve a complex issue for expert to work out.
I too hope that CNY is free for exchange. When this happens, perhaps Hong Kong Dollar can be replaced or linked with CNY? Now it's linked with at fixed rate with USD, and USD is weak. This' why Hong Kong now is very poor.
Not agreed. He's prepared to give all after death. In fact, he went around the world, including China, to persuade rich guys surrendering all to charity after-death. He's amazing.
Internal consumption takes time to develop. It's true. But getting involved in large amount of deadfish investment is like a no-return suicide.
There's a big gap between rich & poor is a fact. Can be a topic for discussion but another issue. I think it happens elsewhere, in Africa, even in US. Warren Buffet has the point that if American government is resolve itself from the present predicament, it should levy heavier taxes from the rich. This is the world - capitalists are the real winners everywhere.
As a matter of fact, I think the West and China has a rather funny love-hate relationship.
I read someone wrote on this forum that Chinese regard the America as a land of "honey-and-milk". But I think the tide has turned that China becomes an apple in the eyes to some of them.
Think of how the poor workers dying in highly dangerous and v ill-conditioned factories that manufacture DISNEY's souvenir products. Some are not yet dead, but seriously exploited and handicapped.
Well, if just buying a little for keeping the relationship going. It's fine. But committing herself in a high-risk investment is the "must- requirement" to keep export going, that's blackmail.
And BTW, it is not essential. China has a large population for developing internal consumption.
I just think money is for helping ppl who are really needy. There's vast amount of ppl real poor in China!
I don't want to complain, just a bit of nagging... but afterall nothing is so serious as the poor ppl who lose their homes & beloved within minutes like in a major disaster
U're welcome I think some of the men are mistaken to believe that independent women must be too strong to handle.
But independent women can be frail inside, regardless of their appearance; & bec of what they have been thru, they have a greater capacity for love & understanding.
Most importantly, independent women know better how to take care of others like they take care of herself.
Right, so they're desperately re-connecting electricity and cooling systems to all plants. If they can't get them ALL to re-run before the thing overheated, the game will be over.
I read from Yahoo this could cost 10 thousands of lives to accomplish as radiation is much an issue. Besides, most experts are of the opinion concrete wouldn't do before the plants can be effectively cooled down.
Chernobyl is different. The nuclear plant was buried in concrete AFTER explosion when the heat is no longer a critical issue. Yet it still cost many many lives. Most firefighters and workers who got the job done died soon afterwards -- according to reports.
"I very much admire the Japanese ethic, culture, humility, respect and honour." >> I would say most Japanese are admirable. They are quiet, self-disciplined who is just working hard for a peaceful life. On the other hand, there are still a quite no. of hereticals who still worship militariansm & never never admitted any war crime committed, which is a shame.
I am not sure about Mainland China, but HK is much orderly. The government arranges flights free transporting citizens back here. Cathay Pacific is running as normal...just a small no. of old men or housewives siezing for salt out of stupidity. This becomes international news & I consider it a shame too.
You are absolutely correct! In the East...at least here, when a woman lives on her own, she's in great suspicion of her background about past relationship, for the so-called "nice" guys.
For bad guys, they would busy with their dirty mind with plans using your home for cheap fun.
So afterall, there's no right or wrong living with parents or living alone. People's opnion are always biased with experience with culture.
Most important is finding the most suitable way for oneself, I think.
ITALY IS ASKING CHINA TO BUY A LARGE AMOUNT OF THEIR NATIONAL BONDS. I REALLY HOPE SHE WON'T BE SILL

High time to sleep now. Good day all!
