was in a pub with my sister last yr and the was a man up in the corner staring down at us, next thing he came down and stood beside me so i turned around ready to see what he was going to say, all the eejit said was "do you fancy a ride" not a hello or how are ya, well me being me i wasnt going to let it go so i told him it wouldnt go astray but that it wudnt be with him, he then started to tell me how much he loved his wife so i told him to go home and annoy her, such a muppet
I worked in the Genealogy Society in Sligo for a few years Annie, each county has a one and some counties have 2 eg. Mayo. Its located in the Tourist Office beside the Hawkswell Theatre. It really depends on what parish your ancestors came from, records for some parishes go back to 1796 and some only as far as 1870 in Sligo. Civil Registration didnt become law in Ireland until 1864. If you need and help on it mail me.
This was done in Sligo a good few years ago, it was called LETS, cant even rem what that stood for but i think you paid a fee and got a cheque book or receipt book a bit like IOU's and a list of people and the services they were offering or were looking for, dont know what happened to it in the end.
