RE: Multiculturalism has 'failed

I'm not exactly sure why, but since the inception of the EEC/EU, Germany and, to some extent, France, who are the twin engines that drive that particular entity, have tried to turn Europe into some kind of 'second coming' of the United States.
This includes 'multiculturalism'.
The problem is that Europe ain't America.
European countries are already crowded to the max with people, they aren't suited for immigration.
Much of the U.S. is pretty empty.
European countries are, to some extent or another, based on cultural, linguistic and maybe even ethnic hegemony.
Not the case in the U.S.
In the particular case of Muslims, the enmity between the Islamic world and mostly Christian Europe goes back to before the Middle Ages and old wounds run very, very deep in the Old World.....
A concept most Americans don't even understand.
Should trouble develop, maybe even in the form of an outside threat, Europe is pretty much indefensible - land borders are almost impossible to close.
The U.S. can fairly effectively isolate itself from the rest of the world by closing air- and naval ports, the only vulnerable land border being the one with Mexico, which consists to a large extent of some very hostile terrain not easily crossed.
