I heard a saying to the effect that we are never more disturbed by the flaws of another person than when they are so close to our own flaws as it is like looking in a mirror. We see their flaws, can't accept the person for them, yet know we are the same ourselves.
DO you think that is why the old adage holds that opposites attract?
Do we judge those with attributes we dont have more positively than those with whom we share common traits?
Haha yeah if it was Alan Rickman I'd go numb...may be shouldn't post that publicly...
Yeah that's what it looks like. Chiselled jaw, nice big lips, refined features, sharp suit...but something is just 'off' and I dont know what. I think it just might be a male model because he has that classic male stare of looking off to the right with a 'lost in thought' serious expression. Either that or he is a cracking looking guy who has had a professional photo...he is a web designer, maybe its for business.
Or maybe I'm just letting my incredibly shallow side take over
I am acutely aware that this is a kind of double standard but due to some bad experiences I'm hesitant to put my photo on my profile..and because of my job. I'll only give out a photo once a good rapport has been made so as to sift out the creeps, pervs and users.
But is there not something terribly unnerving about peoples profile photos which look like something out of a photoshoot?
I'm talking to one guy right now who just sounds, and looks, to good to be true. Are these folks usually spammers?
Well from where I am, Ben Lomond is North West which is the highest peak around Loch Lomond.
The Campsie Hills are hills North Glasgow behind which you have the lowlands which spread across until you get to the Ochill hills in Stirling, very dramatic and beautiful scenery.
One of my little dogs buzzing round and round me like a little firefly, I thought she was hungry or wanted to go out a walk...she just wanted a cuddle. She snuggled up beside me and fell asleep
Well I wouldn't move from the Uk, but I'd like to move from Glasgow to the beautiful St. Andrews where I study for the breathtaking views and unashamed pretentiousness!
What would I miss from Glasgow?...the beautiful architecture :)
I think it's spin. Which does of course go way back to the Sophists who were master rhetoricians but it seems to be the accepted way of doing things these days whether via broadcasting, politicising or to get your way through work, you need only watch The Apprentice.
Do yoyou think opposites attract because we can't bare to look at our own flaws
Evidently my spelling and grammar have eluded me today. You*
