Yes! Exactly the same except I'm the one in Canada and he's 300O miles away! :(
I am a big believer that "where there is a will, there is a way", but in certain circumstances (particularly where children are concerned) that may require HUGE amounts of patience, and if only one of you has it, or is prepared to apply it to the situation in question, then you're still on a road to nowhere! :( Also if one of you isn't prepared to relocate (in this case that's me) then the same applies.
It sucks, for sure, but I guess when you're on an international site like this one, it's bound to happen on occasion and you have to be prepared for the consequences. Just the nature of the beast! Anyone who really can't handle that should be on a more localized site only I guess.
I know I was tempted to change my profile to limit any potential "suitors" to local guys, but who knows....next time my Mr International may just be the one, and the barriers may be surmountable, so I'll leave it for now!
Yes! I always find it bizarre to see middle aged men set a range of 25-50 or whatever!! Still.. I suppose maybe that covers the younger ones just for a bit of fun and the older ones for something more serious?
Maybe there should be two fields...one for what you would consider an appropriate age range for a relationship, and one which covers friends/casual dating if that's on the agenda. I certainly have good friends in "real life" both younger and older than the age range I set on here - which I set as pertaining to a possible relationship. But.... what I like about this site is that you can bypass that criteria and send a message anyway - it just goes to a different folder! So..anyone out there who wants to be friends either side of my age criteria - don't be shy! LOL!
Was going to write a reply then saw this one pretty much imitating exactly what I would have written , so am just saying "YAY" to this one instead!!! Couldn't agree more! Very well put! :)
A formal education isn't necessarily a mark of intelligence, much less of being remotely interesting, any more than a lack of one necessarily produces a boring simpleton! I have met many people who could have easily sailed through a degree, but who simply didn't get the opportunity to do so for instance, and yet then of course went on become richly "educated" and thoroughly fascinating in my opinion, by virtue of a personal desire to furnish an inquiring mind by whatever means at their disposal - be it traveling, reading, life experiences etc.
In short. A "Formal" education is just that, and there are a plethora of other means with which we can educate our minds.
Wow! And you're still here?! That's um...not sure whether to say commendable or not! LOL!
I don't suppose I really know how much I've been lied to as I tend not to get around to actually meeting most people! I have definitely been lied to on occasion, and on others I have met some wonderful friends. But 99% of the time? WOW Is that reality for everyone do you think? Ie. Is that just being realistic where the rest of us are in denial! That makes me want to give up before I've even started!! I have to hope that's not the case universally!
I emigrated here from the UK 2 years ago. I have a website - which is actually currently under construction but its kinda huge and basically all about how wonderful I find Canada to be!
I came over when I was 12 initially, and visited many times between then and finally living the dream, and becoming a PR of this awesome country.
For me - Canada is just the most awesome country. I'd never want to live anywhere else and I've travelled extensively.
The people: You are so friendly, and patriotic! I love that! Your children are polite and well mannered AND family values are a joy to behold! Everything is child friendly over here! People take their children to restaurants in the evening! Now you might think that's par for the course, but believe me not in the UK! Whole families go and have big picnics and BBQ's and visit amussement parks. Its awesome. You guys work to live over here instead of living to work. That's the way it should be!
The Climate: Snow AND hot summers oh and beautiful falls. Perfect!
The truly GREAT Outdoors: OMG camping over here is so much fun! I LOVE how everyone (well a majority of people it seems) love to be outdoors all the time. Even just being able to do outdoor skating and swimming is divine to someone brought up in the rainy climes of the UK! We have probably spent more time outdoors in the past 2 years than the previous 10 in the UK put together. Maybe even more!!
Natural Beauty: Enough said! Supreme! Haven't explored anywhere other than Ontario yet but I hear its gorgeous everywhere you go and I can't wait to see it all for myself!
I feel supremely honoured to be a resident of Canada and I can't wait to take my citizenship next year which will just be the icing on the cake.Your country simply rocks!
PS. My blog is still up and running so you can go check it out if you are so inclined!
