I've been speaking to someone I met on CS for the past month and we're getting ready to meet in about 10 days. Everyone that I've communicated with has been great and I haven't had any problems with "crazies".
Congratulations! I am so happy for you. Coincidentally, I too have met someone special on CS. He is the most wonderful, caring man in the world and things are moving along very quickly. I was definitely caught off guard.
Very good points Optional. Sometimes it isn't just that we're editing ourselves for others but even for ourselves. We want to be someone we're not and hope that if we "pretend" then it'll become a reality.
What if you would have been disappointed? What if you really like someone but then find you have absolutely no chemistry? I'm new to all of this so I'm really curious.
Are you off from work already? I always email everyone who contacts me. Could be shyness or they don't think the person emailing them is a good match and they don't want to hurt their feelings.
Either way I think it's best to be polite and honest.
for me it's not about the IQ but about common sense, the ability to learn from one's mistakes, at least basic knowledge of a broad range of subjects, ability to use logic, can connect the dots, etc.
It seems that I get approached by younger guys, (actually young guys) more often than men my age! I'm talking guys who are in their 20's which is way too young for me.
I prefer to have a picture because it helps me connect with the person I'm communicating. They're also setting themselves up for disappointment if someone asks them for a picture and then decides there's no chemistry there.
Let's face it, looks matter to some extent because there usually has to be some sort of physical attraction.
