Always

Gentle words and soft caress
Fine soft hair for me to mess
A tender smile and caring word
Go further than the lines I've heard
An honest heart, ideas and thoughts
Patience, understanding, and likes wee tots
A diamond forged from mortal coal
A sweetness which grabs ones tender soul
But by and by, the greatest thing
He knows what friendships always bring

Ghosts

Each man is haunted by his own ghosts.
Some have more, some less than others do.
By no means should these ghosts be a judge of the man
But by how that man faces his ghosts,
Be they past or present.
Each ghost a man faces gives him a strength he never had.
Until he learns to let his ghosts teach him;
For, until he can do that; he is not a man:
He is merely a shadow of what he could be.

About this poem:
~~ Knew a lot of soldiers who were very broken from the things they saw and did in the line of duty... also for the many people ive spoken with over the decades who could not face their own ghosts and continued to hide until it killed them ~~
**** the font on this is deliberately set low to shade into the background to set ambience for the writing****

Long Ago

I knew you once,
Long ago,
Before we'd ever met.
Your scent still fresh in my memories and dreams.
The sound of your voice echoing in the eternity of my heart.
Fingers you had caressed me with still send waves of desire through me.
We knew each other once,
Long ago,
Every intimate detail, and accepted each others eccentricities.
But now,
We've forgotten that time once,
Long ago.....

All That Hurts

All that kills will someday fade:
Will destroy itself with its own blade.
All that maims will be no more:
With legends will pass to yesterday's lore.

All thats good will take its place:
But I have gone without a trace.
All that's good does not cease,
And as time goes on, I am at peace.

All that hurts will pass away:
Will fade to mist eventually.
All that pains will slowly die:
Wither and wilt and slowly lie,
Beneath the earth, just like I.
