I took this pic in april 2009 on my way to Valdez AK. Thompson pass is the highest mountain range to cross to get to Valdez from Anchorage. The road that I was on when I took this pic is frequently closed down in the winter due to avalanches or heavy snow. its the ONLY road that the folks in Valdez can use to leave. Sometimes Valdez can have 30 or more feet of snow during the winter.
Going to Valdez is one of my favorite places to visit here in AK
