1. The degrees in a circle is 360°.
From 12 (on the clock) to 6, is half the circle or 180°.

2. From 12 to 9 on the face is 1/4 or 90°.
12 to 11, 11 to 10, 10 to 9; is three equal parts. Since 12 to 9 is 90°, then each part is 30°.

3. At 9:30, the minute hand is on the 6 (180°) and the hour hand is exactly half way between the 9 and 10.

4. The part between any two numbers on the face is 30°, so halfway is 15°.
180° - (90° + 15°) = 75°
The correct answer is 75°.

The answer to question two is 255 degrees because the hour hand will have move 15 degrees in half an hour (it doesn't stay stuck on the 9).

Mr. notsocommonsense kindly don't blame others for scoring only 33%. Even my 6 yrs old daughter can score more than that... Let me remind you that even in elementary school physics and by Newton's law any freefall object which is a complete solid is effected by gravity (9.8 m/sec2)only. Which means they are not effected by volume nor by weight or mass. Anyway, in vacuum you can say a paper or a feather and a melon can reach at the same time but in our normal environment they won't. If you're still unsure.. try it... just throw yourself and a coin from a roof and see who will reach first. Now everybody knows from where you got such a username :D

on the clock one it should of been 97.5 degrees (each number is worth 15 degrees) so moving 1/2 way in between a number would be 7.5 (7 1/2) degrees

next time you have a thought, to make a "smart people's test"

please be accurate..........this test was a total fail.....

here's just one example.........

the cherry and the watermelon would only hit the ground at the same time, if they were in a vacuum.......

and your 105 degrees one would be more like 96-100% (on the clock one)

I have to disagree with the question about the watermelon and the cherry. Yes they both fall at terminal velocity, but the watermelon reaches top speed first which makes it hit the ground first. professor

How much is the total sum of the numbers from 1 up to 100?

In the manner the question is asked 100 is not included.

Here's a better question: How does 8/10 = 67%?

ItsTodd, minus one for obvious lack of common sens :-D

What you gave is a formula, the result of the pairing "explanation" !

To make it clear : the author explained to process that lead to the formula.

the answer for the 2nd question is wrong.
You asked for the ancle between the the hours' arm and the minutes' arm. When I go from the hours' arm to the the minutes' arm on a clock, I have to do it clockwise. This is about 270 degrees. Between the minutes' arm and the hours' arm it is, depending on the mechanism in the clock, 90 degrees or 105 degrees, because there are real old clocks, where the hours' arm jumps on every full hour.

Your explanation of the first question is overly complicated and can be found much easier by applying a simple algorithm.

n=the number you want to find the sum of numbers
n(n+1)/2

In your problem 100
100(100+1)/2=5050
