If you sent a message to someone you'll see that message among the others in your 'Outbox' list. It'll be highlighted also, indicating they have not read it...

... but then if you directly click the recipients name, you'll get an error message telling you to go back to mailbox and open the message first. When you go back to outbox you'll notice the message is no longer highlighted. No big deal. Except... the recipient now does not get the red 'Mailbox' highlighting new mail. Also, their message Inbox while displaying your message will not indicate it as been unread. So they may very often overlook it and think it is a previous message already read and simply ignore it.

C'mon CS, fix it. It explains quite a few conversations, that just ended, as the other party thought I had ignored them. Fail.

Nice investigative work mate!!

I suspected something was amiss. The highlighting disappearing on the outbox, then a sort of 'hang on a minute these folk that I just clicked on the outbox didn't reply, but those one's did, that I didn't click on...' and BTW I'm not talking about messages soliciting interest. General messages, having a laugh with someone, male or female: There would be no reason to just stop.

So I created a dummy profile, and tested it by sending this profile a message. My suspicions were confirmed.

So, if you happen to click on the message you have sent to someone, in your outbox and get this error message and the message showing as 'read' then they will not be aware they have a message?

What if its a first contact? and you happen to click on the message? Will it still go through but they just wont be aware of it?

Have you got a new message?

Green_Sleeves: So, if you happen to click on the message ....

If you click on the Profile name, rather than the subject line, they will not get notification of the message via the red box 'Mailbox' sign, or will it be highlighted as a new messaged in their mailbox. It WILL be there, but not highlight.

Well I submitted a error report with a link to this thread. I might just link this thread into the international forums and see what the masses say. If enough awareness is raised it might be fixed. :)

The funny thing is, All my Dads side of the family are from Cavan/Meath. The same speak existed in our family. It comes very naturally to me.

Why would you click on a message you had sent anyway?
