It's funny how some people describe the terrorist as a small group of fanatics... Do you have any idea how many of these groups exist, with different names but the same goal... The situation is worse than the medias are serving it for you on a plate...
I understand how you feel Primavera, if I was in your shoes I'd probably do what you do, I don't know... And you have my respect for being the only one who stood up the whole forum war...where are all the men I wonder?! But you have to understand one thing, the truth is not always white or black, not all the Muslim countries are the same and nobody says that. Gladly most of us can clearly make a difference between a violent fanatic and peaceful believer...but you must agree the fear is stronger than the good will sometimes.
You know, I have read the Koran so I can have a better understanding about my colleagues at the time... And I have read the parts stating to kill those who are infidels... May be you have a different version of the Koran, but I have read it In English and Bulgarian and it is all the same... I don't mean to attack you but take it easy, and don't take it so personal...

Well, my experience from Pakistan is totally different from yours and I have worked there long enough as well as many other Muslim countries. I have been to remote areas but the most horrible time I had in Lahore and Karachi... Me and my colleagues had to spend a week literally locked inside because of bombings in one of the most exclusive areas in Lahore called "Model town" where we were residing at that time... I can share many more frightening stories about Pakistan and not only... So to generalise is not a good idea...
As I sit and think now, wouldn't be better if the appeal is for the Muslims to hug a Christian, as I didn't see or hear a single action or word from the "peaceful" Muslims... They should be more bothered to show us they are not to be feared...
I think the hippy style propaganda "Make love not war" will never work again. Like it or not the world and our lives will never ever be the same. I live in a country where almost any kind of religious groups live together, celebrate our holidays together and always respected each other. We hug Muslims every day, because they are our friends, our neighbours, colleagues. But in 1989 a group of radicalized Turks of Bulgarian origin tried to establish an autonomic Turkish republic within my country... It took few HOURS for our special forces to deal with that. And our prime minister said "If you don't feel this country as your mother land you better leave"...and many did, but few years later and till today they are coming back, because in Turkey they were classed as Bulgarians and so they are... Even the Muslim people in Bulgaria don't want refugees or migrants here... Why? Cause we know they will never be one of us and will never care about our country the way we do.
Hi Babs You are talking about a situation that's happening not only on CS but in real life too. People take it in a different way and choose what to believe or not. When you have billions of humans, which are the most inharmonious and extreme creations on Earth you can not expect a good result. You have mentioned the "Interest", the main reason for all the troubles. People suffer because other people make them suffer... The separation is a natural thing, when you have humans from different cultures, religions, custom, way of life you sooner or later end up with what we do witnessed recently. It might sound cynical but I believe that there is natural logic in the way the world has separated itself into continents, countries, zones...by colours, religions... The nature is the best example, if you mix lions with gnus you won't expect a peaceful outcome... It's just my opinion and might not be presented in the best way but it's JMHO and I don't push it onto anybody...
Well, I am not looking and I do mean it... I've been on this site for nearly four years now and I enjoy it. I do talk to different people, some of them met in person(locally), and two of them are my dear friends now... I am not willing to relocate and I will never ask anybody to do it for me... As I said many times before, if it happens it happens, but I am not pushing for it...
