Relationships and Distance

OK. Hands up! Who has on their profile that they will travel any distance for a relationship?

I for one have - but have we really thought this through?

The 3 main problems are language, employment and a visa. Which limits where I can go as I can only speak English. Of course given some time I would learn the language of the country I was in. But, would I get a visa or find employment given the current economic climate.

Of course the employment problem could still exist even within your own country with a new partner living 200 miles away (approx 4 hour drive) Can one of you move and still find a job? Can the other support both of you even temporarily. Would driving 200 miles after work on a Friday and a return on a Sunday evening put too much strain on a relationship?

So whats the answer. Should we all be looking for someone within an hours drive?

Nah! that would be boring. Live the adventure!!

Ladies - Do you have the same problem?

On most of my pages is targetted advertising.

On mine because of my age it is over 40's dating sites and cougar (new term for me) sites.

But the site of some sad, unhappy, woman sitting in some so called provocative position with a micro-mini skirt and her bust hanging out - just turns me cold.

Comments please..

Friends with benefits.

I was talking to a friend earlier who has just been on a 2nd successful date. I naturally asked her if she had a 3rd one planned and was she looking forward to it.

She said yes, but then came back to me later and said NO, not really. She has got used to living on her own without a partner. In charge of her own life, finances and decisions. While she is happy to date, she does not relish getting too close to someone that they start talking about moving in together.

The more I thought about this I realised this could be quite a common problem.

Any comments please.

How far would you go?

For a date.

Who has travelled furthest? Foe a successful or unsuccessful date. We can talk, phone, skype etc but until you look someone face to face you don't know if there is chemistry or not.

I have been on 7 dates in the past 12 months. 1st one was 400 miles away, last one was 200 miles away. Longest was 3 1/2 hour flight. I have enjoyed a and regretted none.

So how far would you travel for a date?
