Everything happens for a reason...

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there, they serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson or help figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be; your friend, your neighbor, teacher, long lost friend, lover, or even a complete stranger who, when you lock eyes with them, you know that very moment that they will affect your life in some profound way. Sometimes things happen to you and at the time they seem horrible, painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize that without overcoming those obstacles you would never have realized your potential, strength, will power of heart. Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of good or bad luck. Illness, injury, love, lost moments or true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of the soul. Without these small tests, if they be events, illnesses or relationships, life would be like a smooth paved, straight, flat road to nowhere…safe and comfortable but dull and utterly pointless. The people you meet who affect your life and successes and downfalls you experience, they are the ones who create who you are. Even the bad experience can be learned from. Those lessons are the hardest and probably the most important ones. If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart, forgive them, for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart. If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because they are teaching you to love and opening your heart and eyes to things you would have never seen or felt without them. Make every day count. Appreciate every moment and take from it everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again. Talk to people you have never talked to before, and actually listen, let yourself fall in love, break free and set your sights high. You can make of your life anything you wish. Create your own life and then go out and live it. I wish you all the best in your endeavors as well as struggles in life. Have a fighting spirit and never hesitate to get back in the struggle!

I've always had problems with this statement.... "Everything happens for a reason"

Who is in control of this reasoning ? Who is pulling these strings if you think it is not just down to pure chance? I see you are religious, so are you talking about some benevolent devine intervention being involved ?
Great post Shawn!handshake
I enjoyed reading your post, for me was just beautiful.
All those words are pure truth.
Thanks for sharing.bouquet bouquet
I too enjoyed your blog Shawn, good one!! There is nothing more truer than "Everything happens for a reason!"
thumbs up thumbs up handshake cheers grin cool
Hi Rube, are you saying there is a reason behind earthquakes, famines, tsunamis etc ? As if there was a Wizard of Oz type character at the controls !
Very nicely written & I believe in everything happens for a reason too. handshake
It is very true. THINGS HAPPENED FOR A REASON...
As much as it pains me to agree with Mr. Howe laugh, I agree that most events are just the simple result of cause and effect. That doesn't mean I'd say nothing of significance or life lessons happen to us; I think they do. But I don't believe that every single thing happens for a reason, for example, say I burned my hand on a coffee pot. I did that, not anyone else.
Go easy Ms Calm, I think thats the second time in one day. It could soon become a (good!) habit !
I believe in "everything happens for a reason," because I believe in a supreme being. This being, that holds the universe together and all physical matter has created it for a purpose. Everything has a purpose as clearly seen, as we observer planets and stars moving and life on this planet going about it's business. It has a purpose, therefore that which has purpose was created to function for a reason. As for burning your had touching something hot? The purpose is "watch what you are doing, pay attention, for the lack of focus using something dangerous has negative results. Really, it all boils down to the belief in that supreme being. grin cool teddybear
Well, Ruben, of course everything happens for a reason, if the purpose (as you say) for getting burned by a teapot is to be careful, lol.

I don't know, but it seems like too much micro-management of routine living for me. I do believe in God, just not that He makes the neighbor's dog drive me crazy when he hears me moving around nearby. teddybear

I know what you mean, but it's really all a matter of perspective and point of view isn't it? A supreme being of such a high intelligence doesn't really have to micro-manage, he creates an environment for his creations to "cause and effect," there own self created lessons and experiences. As a very intelligent women you well know that a dog and a human's interaction can be viewed from man different perspectives. Do we need to learn how to live with or respect the animals that we have custody over and do they need to learn how to interact with us as a lower intelligent being? Do we need to learn how to live, love, and respect each other, as a mixed group of humans and animals within a social structured environment in close proximity? Have you seen what cats and dogs can do as caught on video? Is the dog and cat evolving via our human influence? Could that be part of the grand scheme of things? To respect thy neighbor and his dog or cat? I don't know, but my imagination has to stretch in order to fathom, just to at least get a glimpse of such an intelligence that a supreme being might have. dunno confused cool teddybear bouquet
I do believe that everything happens for a reason. Sometimes we don't realize it until later but when you start to think of what happened then and what's going on now is when you really see it and understand it. It had happened to me so many times that I have no other reason but to believe it.wink
By the way, Shawn, thank you for the post, it is very enlightening.thumbs up
Ruben, by your posts I now see why you have all these nice women appreciating. Very eloquent and shows a loving heart. cheers
I meant, nice women appreciating you. Why do some words and letters disappear? cheers

Shawn, I love it when someone creates a blog where as everyone can place their perspective and their own opinions about a subject,my point to be exact, universal thoughts no wrongs no rights, just at a different angle of a subject,if everyone agree to the subject, then as you mention everything would be dull and pointless,so there it is, you proved yor point in one way or another, someone out there may have learned something from this blog by your statements or the comments.Pple choose to believe or not. I think choices are blamed for everything that happens for a reason, unfortunately my choices and your choices effects everyone,it starts as like a domino reaction cause and effect, therefore no one can blame God for disasters or calimities,he gave adam n eve options as well.So there it is!!!
