What happened to China

Monday 03 August 2020 I've just watched CNN where they showed a list of the top 13 countries with the highest number of covid-19 infections and i was stunned to see that China is not one of them. U.S.A was first South Africa 5th and 13th Pakistan. How did this come about? Even Italy ( who at one point had the highest infection rate) did not make the list.

China has stopped publishing numbers.
Nevertheless new outbreaks occur, schools close, towns close, cities close provinces close.
They just don't advertise them and the western press pays no attention to this now.
I would think many more are missing in the early stages of Wuhan and the numbers are high. I would like to no how may died during lockdown. Two years from now experts claim 33% of infections will lead to death.. Time will tell. Mexico would be right in the top three in highest death. Iran may have not been forthcoming with real data. Who cares right the numbers of infections are tremendously large.
Fu Manchu and Eros Ramazzotti wrote a song -they figured out that certain frequencies can kill viruses-
I was struck by this statistic because South Africa was a relative late comer as far as infections go. On 05 April 2020 for example we had 1585 infections and 9 deaths while China and Italy had considerably more. Yet today just 4 months later we are 5th highest in the world way ahead of these two countries. Could this be because of strict lockdown or are the figures coming out of these countries unreliable?
