"Landscape" Project
I kind of have to call it landscaping, since gardening seems a little less fitting. While I was looking after my uncle's place, I ended up being driven insane by the state of the front and back gardens, and absolutely had to do something about them.
Here was what the front yard looked like before I started:
Looks like a lot of work needed to be done, and that was only the front yard! So, I grabbed a small wheelbarrow and got to work.
I ended up re-using some plants that were already there, and bought some annuals from a nearby store. I can't remember how long it took, but here's what it looked like after I finished:
Then, I went to the backyard. Couldn't even see the steps to the back door, it was choked with Manitoba Maple. Had to cut that back, and unfortunately I didn't end up taking a picture of that part. As for the main garden in the back, it was twice as big as what I made it, but now their lawn is bigger. It was clear that the garden wasn't being fully used as it was anyway. Here's kind of a before and after of the back. Basically, it's the original garden plot, but I took out 1/2 the weeds in this pic.
I ended up adjusting the wooden frame around the entire garden to work with only 1/2, moved some of the mint I found underneath the stairs, brought some raspberry and other flowers I had extra in my own gardens, and put some other flowers I bought in there as well. I think it looks much better, how about yourself?
I also relocated some of the junk that was in their backyard. They put stuff they tore out of the house while they were renovating. I would have done more, if I had more tools than just a shovel, hoe, trowel and pruners.
