Great question! dunno crying
Divorce rates are higher everywhere and the reason I think is everybody is independent and everybody has his/her own viewpoints in everything and they are not ready to budge, so it is natural that divorce happens (majority of the cases). Then there are others issues involved like lack of chemistry between two, financial, domestic issues, etc for which there are no other option but head straight to splitsville. Nobody is here to blame just accept the reality and if one can move at least 6 months before divorce talks take places then you are successful you moved at least 6 months.

Wow that is an achievement!!!
Tonymax,
"who is not understanding who"... I think who a human being at least understands is ... himself/herself

"Who is not tolerating who"... I am always surprised when people ask, beg and force others for being tolerated but it never comes to their minds, they should be tolerate as well to others grin

Solution - I am a simple woman, I cannot offer solutions, I can say what is in my book....
Don´t marry Someone you can live with. Marry Someone, you do not want to live without.
good luck daisy
Aswina...will you marry me?bouquet bouquet
yes divorce is higher everywhere, family does not seem so important as it once did, but for most societies , the day when 3 generations lived in 1 house, holding the family together, with support networks are long gone, people have more choice, including the choice to leave, the list is endless, money pressure, selfishness, religion is going by the wayside, respect with it, it goes on, but that it leaves heartbreak, and lasting damage in its wake, are but 2 certainties, alas; it is a sad subject.
Divorce happens.That's life.dunno

Thankfully here long gone are the days when there was no way out of a marriage.Society, family and religious pressures made it impossible to get out of unhappy and/or abusive marriages.

We start dating around 15? 16?.To think that it is natural to stay with and have a happy, fullfilling and long lasting relationship from one person from teen years to 70 or so is ridiculous.

People change. That's what life is.Life is change and many is the time that we change so radically from the one we loved at 20 to who we are at 37 that there is no chance to make a relationship with them be loving, healthy and lasting.
im afraid Mary, the days when you could get out, are still long distant, in many countries, and traditions, i wish it were not so, but it is, no support networks, or refuges, simply, no where to run, a prisoner in there own home, many in remote valleys, its tragic, i know of it only too well, believe me.

I just googled divorce rate statistics by Nationmaster.com and they state that this is the divorce rate for every 1000 marriages by country:

1. United States 4.95
2. Puerto Rico 4.47
3. Russia 3.36
4. UK 3.08
5. Denmark 2.81
6. New Zealand 2.63
7. Australia 2.52
8. Canada 2.46

The lowest divorce rate goes to Sri Lanka @ 0.15 marriages per 1000!

I have no opinion since I am not qualified as a twice divorced person and now single for 35 years, but I thought it would be interesting to see these stats.
Ed..if that is per 1000 that seems pretty low to me. A new hope has risen in me! laugh laugh
I think marrying and divorcing are private questions. So we can't blame this one or that one. It's good we have alternatives and the responsibility to make choices in our life. wave
Divorce used to be a hard thing to do, socially and economically for women. Women just had to put up with being in a bad situation. Things have changed in that regard. I think if arab world statistics were accurately published you might be surprised to find that they have a very high rate of divorce also. It still carries a stigma with it especially for the woman, but it is very common here.
