I used to answer to everyone who wrote to me, before. Now I don't. Why? Because when I reply they don't reply me back. Why should I bother to start the correspondence which he will not bother to keep. It is always so. He starts, I reply, he doesn't... See what I mean?
What's the difference in the end? Not interested is not interested and no reply says is more clearly than any message can.
I also used to reply to all messages, but I can't be bothered anymore. Many times I politely wrote a 'sorry not interested' message, I would get a very rude message back, calling me all sorts of names, so why should I bother?
Also I don't reply to the 'hi, how are you doing?' messages, simply because they're meaningless and I have nothing to reply.
So, now I only reply to the messages I get from people I know from forums or blogs, the messages that make me laugh or the ones that clearly prove the writer has actually read my profile and is showing genuine interest. But I do state that in my profile as well.
