1 small chopped Banjar Ketupat
what is this?help dunno

I googled it and a few sites offered mp3 music to download!!!doh uh oh blues
I see but I am a little confused to find on dictionary. But ketupat is mean packed rice.

It is made from rice that has been wrapped in a woven palm leaf pouch and boiled. As the rice cooks, the grains expand to fill the pouch and the rice becomes compressed. This method of cooking gives the ketupat its characteristic form and texture of a rice dumpling

El, sorry I can't help myself laughing at youlaugh Is there any coconut leaves sold on markets in SA? Or, is there any Indo resto available in your area that can help you with 'ketupat' maybe? You can google the photo and instructions how to make it though grin

Citra, a nice and yummy recipe I am sure. Myself is a big fan of chicken soup (soto ayam). Perhaps, 'ketupat' is not available in other part of the world, so wouldn't it be easier for our friends who live in other part of the world like Elmorya to prepare steamed rice as an alternative instead of cooking 'ketupat'?

Saya kurang familiar dengan Soto Banjar, tapi kalau ketupatnya bisa diganti dengan nasi putih mungkin lebih baik apabila tidak mengurangi cita rasanya, karena ketupat belum tentu ada di negara lain. Hanya usul saja, Citra. Jadi laparblushing teddybear
Hi Lach, If the ingredients are available in SA,
El can give it a shot and try out the recipe there..grin

Where I live we have many large "asian/indian" markets that carry all the items needed in traditional recipes. We have international and Mexican markets too.

This recipe is online is easier to understand versions as well.

You can change the ketupat with the steam rice or you can cook rice you put in the plastic. Make balance water and rice in the plastic then you boiled them like you cook rice. My mom told me about that cheers
